The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide classroom support across the primary age range, working both alongside the class teacher and with pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis. You’ll play an important part in creating a positive learning environment, helping pupils engage with their lessons, and supporting those with additional needs to make progress.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons and activities
  • Offer 1:1 and small-group support, including SEND pupils
  • Adapt resources and activities to match individual pupil needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence and social skills
  • Help with literacy and numeracy across the curriculum
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to a safe classroom

 

Skills and Experience

  • Previous school-based Teaching Assistant experience is essential
  • Minimum of 6 months in an education setting required
  • Experience with primary-aged children
  • SEND or 1:1 support experience especially beneficial
  • Confident supporting individuals, groups, and whole-class tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, proactive and positive approach
  • Strong ability to build relationships with pupils and staff
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
  • References covering the last 24 months required

 

Location and Package

  • Based in West Bromwich
  • Full-time hours: Monday to Friday during school hours
  • Contract role, with all pay rates via PAYE or Umbrella
